    This internship was conducted in the Bilingualism for Peace program at El Sabanal School in Monteria with students of beginner level from the rural zone. The purpose of this internship was to gain experience of teaching English to children and also improve my performance as an English teacher. The pedagogies are several concepts that were addressed during the internship, learner-centered approach, task-based learning, e-learning and intercultural understanding, those elements were fundamental in the design of the units and lessons. Furthermore, the experience obtained inside the classroom and how the previous concepts are aligned with the suggested units and lessons are part of this report. Finally, from this journey it can understand that the teaching process is a hard labor and how this experience was helpful to improve as a teacher, also some limitations are included such as the lack of technological resources due to not all students can have access them.Introduction . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1Chapter II: Pedagogies . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3Chapter III: Methodology . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ... . . . . . . . . . . . . 9Chapter IV: Experience and contributions

Cordoba “My first steps” in the modality of the internship has allowed trainee teachers to explore a real-life context working with young children from a vulnerable area in Monteria Cordoba, with the purpose of applying different strategies and practices that will help children in this program to get an initial encounter with the target language. Due to the difficulties of the current year and the inability of providing the face to face classes, the internship in the first semester 2020 has suffered some changes, and in order to continue the project, it was established to work in the designing of a unit plan and several lesson plans following some approaches that will be beneficial to this population of students. The objective of this paper is to describe my experience in this internship; designing some lesson plans for students at such a young age, as well as describing the activities carried out during the whole process of the internship. Following the designing of the lesson plans, this final report deals with the implementation of a play-based approach and the advantages of working with this one taking into account the children’s context and needs.Introduction .................................................................................................................................................................1Pedagogies & strategies .................................................................................................................................4Project-Based Learning (pbl) ..................................................................................................................................... 4Play-based learning & pedagogy ............................................................................................................................. 6Modeled play or guided play ......................................................................................................................... 8Proposully framed play or adult-initiated activity or play ........................................................... 9Methodology .............................................................................................................................................................. 10Experience ..................................................................................................................................................................... 14Conclusions & limitations ......................................................................................................................... 20References ...................................................................................................................................................................... 23Appendix ............................................................................................................................................................................. 26ArticlePregradoLicenciado(a) en Lenguas Extranjeras con Énfasis en InglĂ©

Career path of graduates at the School of Economic Sciences of the National University of Cordoba: an approach through the quality of job. The case of graduates in 2016

    Get PDF
This paper aims to analyze the job satisfaction of recent graduates that have finished their studies at the School of Economic Sciences of the National University of CĂłrdoba (SES-NUC). Firstly, we study the relationship between graduates’ overall job satisfaction and different values of jobs. Secondly they analyze the relationship between each subdomain of job satisfaction and explanatory variables, which are related with individual characteristics, relationship statuses, personality traits, household context, human capital background, occupational context, institutional background, job status and job adequacy. Preliminary outcomes show that fives subdomains are positively associated with the probability of overall job satisfaction; their estimated coefficients are statistically significant. Subdomains are satisfaction with pay, fringe benefits, general work environment, intellectual challenge and the possibility of professional development. Besides, the econometric analysis shows that each subdomains is affected differently by individual characteristics, social and economic context, personality traits, occupational context, job status, among others. This result gives some support in applying the appropriate methodology of splitting overall job satisfaction into different dimensions in order to identify the sources of the values of job satisfaction differences.http://aaep.org.ar/anales/works/works2017/desantis_ganame.pdfFil: De Santis, Mariana. Multi and transculturality between Jesuits and native peoples during the Argentine colonial era

    Get PDF
The development of this work aims to identify the type of cultural relationship between Jesuits and native settlers during the colonial era in the Argentine national territory, the latter defined by the period in which there was socioeconomic and political control by the Spanish crown; until national independence in 1816. To do this, we will begin by contextualizing the definitions of culture, interculturality, multiculturalism and transculturality, to identify what type of cultural relationships took place between the actors in said historical context. Starting from the basic assumption that there was no true intercultural transfer given the subordination of the native peoples, the existence of processes of multiculturalism and interculturality will nevertheless be postulated. Next, the origin and development of Jesuit action within the Argentine national territory during the colonial era will be addressed, with special emphasis on its educational characteristics as an argument for the existence of multiculturalism. Finally, an example of interculturality represented by the knowledge of the native peoples will be developed regarding the use of healing plants in the Jesuit pharmacopoeia, once used by these peoples

Digitising Legacy Field Survey Data:A Methodological Approach Based on Student Internships

    Get PDF
In the Mediterranean, field survey has been the most widely used method to detect archaeological sites in arable fields since the 1970s. Through survey, data about the state of preservation of ancient settlements have been extensively mapped by archaeologists over large rural landscapes using paper media (e.g., topographical maps) or GPS and GIS technologies. These legacy data are unique and irreplaceable for heritage management in landscape planning, territorial monitoring of cultural resources, and spatial data analysis to study past settlement patterns in academic research (especially in landscape archaeology). However, legacy data are at risk due to often improper digital curation and the dramatic land transformation that is affecting several regions. To access this vast knowledge production and allow for its dissemination, this paper presents a method based on student internships in data digitisation to review, digitise, and integrate archaeological primary survey data. A pilot study for Central–Southern Italy and the Iberian Peninsula exemplifies how the method works in practice. It is concluded that there are clear benefits for cultural resource management, academic research, and the students themselves. This method can thus help us to achieve large-scale collection, digitisation, integration, accessibility, and reuse of field survey datasets, as well as compare survey data on a supranational scale

An Econometric Cost-Benefit Analysis of Argentina's Youth Training Program

    Get PDF
The Youth Training Program (YTP) was an important component of Argentina’s active labor policy of the 1990s. The program offered courses of three months’ duration, divided equally between lectures and practical experience, and targeted young people, most of whom were not employed and had a low level of education. The program was offered by different institutions chosen through a bidding process and included courses in the fields of agriculture, manufacture, construction and services. This paper conducts an econometric cost-benefit analysis of the fifth round of the YTP. Benefits (wage increases, increase in likelihood of employment, increase in earnings) are estimated using non-matching (Before and After, Cross Section and Difference in Difference) and matching techniques based on propensity score estimate (Nearest Neighbor, Kernel, Local Linear Regression) in order to avoid selection bias. Estimates of the ATE and TT effects are also provided. A sample consisting of 1,670 beneficiaries and a similarly-sized comparison group provided the information necessary to apply the methodology. Benefit estimates are made for the aggregate, by gender and for both youth and adults. Regional differences are also provided. The cost includes direct and indirect components and the alternative cost of beneficiaries reducing their contributions to output during the program. Estimates of rate of return are provided based on the previous benefit and cost estimation. In general, the results support an estimate of 10 percent of return. This looks reasonable if it is compared with the very low rate of return of education estimated separately for the beneficiaries group. Finally, the management of the program is evaluated.
